The Board of Directs is thrilled to announce the appointment of Shawn Brown to the newly created position of Chief Operations Officer.

Mr. Brown comes to HnH after serving over 27 years in civil service for the US Government, with his last post as Contracting Officer for Army Contracting Command at U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center (NSSC). He simultaneously served in the United States Army Reserves, enlisting in 1996 before attending Officer Candidate School in 1999, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel upon completion of Battalion Command in 2023. He holds an MA from Liberty University in Pastoral Counseling and received a BA in political science from Framingham State University and AS in Business from Dean College. In addition to his new duties at HnH, he is an active member of Harbor Church in Hyannis, where he leads its Recovery ministry with over 22 years of continuous sobriety and provides pastoral counseling to those in need.

Dick Murphy, president of HnH says about Shawn, “His background gives him a good understanding of structure and organization. He also brings his recovery piece, a fundamental we were founded on and an underlying spiritual awareness. The Board was excited to give him the ability to look at where we are and where we might go as we implement our strategic plan to expand our outreach and meet the growing need.”

Shawn, commented about his new position, “Since 2007, HnH provided over 800 homeless men and women the help they needed by getting them off the street, teaching occupational and life skills that lead to independent living. Their successful support model attracted me and offers an opportunity for my background and experiences to contribute to the organization’s future. I am excited about working with the entire HnH team.”

In assuming his responsibilities as Chief Operations Officer, Shawn will free up Deacon Dick Murphy from day-to-day duties allowing him to focus on organizational development. He will continue as President and Chairman of the Board, collaborating with them and the HnH community to continue to work with others advocating for the needs of the homeless community.
Please join us in welcoming Shawn to the HnH family and offering our best wishes for success
